Snickers doesn’t know yet. ~T~ and I have a secret… actually, we’re getting a Secret. A dog named Secret!
She is a six year old, red Shiba Inu. She been living temporarily, as a foster dog, with the breeder that owns and shows Snick’s brother in North Carolina since January of this year. She needs a forever home and we’re it. We haven’t set a ship date yet. (More on that later.) In the meantime, here are two pictures of our soon to be family addition!

This is Secret! | Secret and Snick’s littermate, Bashir. |
PS There’s still work to be done on the blog, but it is nitpicky functional stuff. The format is done. I know a few of you commented on it already. What do the rest of you think? I based on on the look of the old blog, but updated it with some round corners and a little bit different layout and some neat plugins.
HOW CUTE. I am insanely jealous. 🙂
Looking at her makes me realize again what a Tank On Four Legs Sumi is. I swear we never gave her SIGH (Shiba Inu Growth Hormone, hehe)!
Awww.. Secret is adorable! The blog is not nearly as adorable as her, but still looks fantastic 🙂
Oh, man, she’s sooo cute! Yay – Snickers will have a playmate! Congrats!
Secret is adorable! I love the coloring…makes me think of getting a Shiba Inu to add to our own little pack…
Is Secret Snick’s sister? Ooooh, you’re so lucky! She’s gorgeous 🙂
She is totally cute, isn’t she? She’s VERY petite – only 15 pounds compared to Snick’s 27. (Bashir and Snick are exactly the same height and weight, which is why Teri took that picture for me with Secret standing by Bashir.) I was planning to get another black and tan, but I think she’s the right dog for Snick and ~T~. 🙂
And no, Secret isn’t Snick’s sister, but they are distant cousins on her sire’s side.
Ever since I saw your pictures of Snick a few months ago I’ve been whining to my fiance that we should look at a Shiba Inu. This only encourages me. =)
ooh Dustin… a possible new inductee to the Shiba Owned? They are great dogs. SMART (sometimes too smart), tidy, clean, independent. Of course, they are also stubborn as hell and shed like crazy in the spring and fall, they’re worth it.
Have you or KJ ever had dogs? Shibas don’t make great FIRST dogs, because although housetraining them is a snap, pretty much EVERYTHING ELSE is a struggle. I don’t think I’ll ever own another breed now though. I just love them. If you’re really interested, you should check out a few of the best sites I have found on the subject:
Jenna, It makes me happy that I KNOW Secret will be in a safe and permanent home with you and T. She is the sweetest little thing around. I know ya’ll will have years of enjoyment with her.
I’m glad to hear your family is so excited about her.
PS.. Just so everyone knows I am not her breeder. And to date have not breed a single litter. But do plan on one this fall. So Bashir will be smiling soon. (it will be an all B&T litter)
Thanks for the Shiba tips. I have read on Wikipedia and a few other places that they are about as stubborn as a dog can get, but have got personality like no other which is really what I’m looking for. Unfortunately KJ has pretty bad pet hair allergies, so the shedding pretty much nixes the possibility of us getting our Shiba. =(
Secret is a hot ticket little girl! If she’s as sassy as she looks, she’ll be a marvelous addition to your family. Keep us posted!
I will definitely keep you posted on Secret. I’m sure she’ll be all over the blog once we get her. She’s being spayed this coming Monday, so we’ll be setting a ship date soon.
I can’t believe I missed seeing this post the first time… I had to scroll back through old posts to figure out who “Secret” was and why she was in your apartment! Congratulations!
