murphy: in teh howss, stealin teh luvs

Murphy napping on my leg. Snickers in the background.

Murphy is a little lover. Whenever he can, he will get on the couch and curl up nearby. I usually scoop him up and “make” him snuggle with me when I’m watching TV. I say “make” because he only does the “I am Shiba. No want snuggles,” for about 3 seconds (and very half-heartedly at […]

Snickers Loves His “Grandparents”

Snickers napping on the couch between his grandparents.

I will get back to regular blogging after the holidays, I swear. In the meantime, here’s a picture of Snickers sleeping on the couch between my parents while they were here for Christmas. I have a better photo that shows that my mom is passed out asleep too, but she would kill me if I […]

Introducing Murphy

Snickers and I have our first Midwest Shiba Inu Rescue (MSIR) foster dog! This is Murphy (in the green collar in the photos). He is eight months old and he’s been with us for four days now. All I know about him is that he was part of a big group of Shibas let go […]

He’s a Busy Doggy: Snick’s New Job

I’ve fallen behind on my regular pace of posting for Jenna & Snickers (.com). It’s partly the holidays (don’t we all love to blame stuff on those?!?). Plus, Snick and I have just been busy! Wednesday, we went to the Crossroads Easter Seals Adult Day Program to meet the volunteer coordinator and visit with their […]

A Dog’s Life in the City

hello everyone, snickers here, in case you are wondering, i am writing this the way i do most things: making mom do it with Shiba mind control. she wants me to share my point of view on things. i told her ok as long as she does the work of typing it. typing on the […]

Making the Most of Companion Identification Methods

Although tags are the easiest solution for someone to see and read if they find your pet, collars can break or slip off and are not always enough. Microchips and tattoos are more permanent solutions than ID tags and give your dog a much better chance of being returned to you if they end up in a shelter.

Why Do [insert breed name] Need to be Rescued?

One thing that took me by surprise when I founded NYC Shiba Rescue, was how often people would ask me "What’s wrong with Shibas? Why do they need to be rescued?" At every event Snickers and I attended representing NYCSR, numerous people would ask this! What’s wrong with them? I didn’t even understand the question […]

Life With Dogs: The Real Poop

At 3:00 AM this morning I put fabulously fresh sheets on my bed. I _love_ fresh sheets. This act is only noteworthy because I had to do it around Snickers. He’d already "gone to bed" in the pile of clean sheets I’d left there after I did laundry. He didn’t want to get off the […]
